Shalise graduates as a Teacher

     Shalise Jacobsen finally did it! Her aspiration to become a Teacher has now been accomplished. She graduated on 21 Apr 2011 at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. She has specialized in the Special Needs Education Program.
     She surpassed great challenges with also being a mother to nice fine son, Talmage.
     We, Dan & Debbie, her parents are very proud of her!

     On April 21, 2011, our daughter Shalise Jacobsen  attends her graduation exercises at the Browning Center Building on the campus of Weber State University in Ogden, Utah.

A Letter of My Second Great Grandfather Jacob Jacobsen About His Family.

 TRANSCRIPTION OF A LETTER WRITTEN BY JACOB JACOBSEN, IN DANISH, TO LENA MICHIE, HIS DAUGHTER, AND TRANSLATED BY (HER)       

               

    This is my Father's letter translated by me to the best of my ability.  Signed Lena Michie  (Dagmar Elise Nicholine)   His Daughter.


     My father's father was the oldest of our family that I know, he was the first Jacob of our family, what year he was born I do not know, but he died in the year 1794 or 1795.  His son Jacob was born in the year 1794, who became my father, and who died in June 1873.  I his son Jacob was born in Steensby, Denmark the 8th of Dec. 1835.  My father's mother's name was Ann Margaret Jacobsen.  My mother's father's name was Henning Johansen and her mother's name was Anne Marie, Henriks daughter.  I do not know what year they were born  but it was in the 1770's.   


     My mother's mother died in the 1850's and mother's father in 1860's.  My mother's name was Karen Sophie, Henning's daughter.  She was born in 1804 and married my father in 1828.  They had three children, two girls and me.  


      My eldest sister, Anne Margaret Jacobsen was born the 6th of March 1829, and my other sister was born the 14th of April 1831. My eldest sister died the 5th March 1845.  My other sister, Anne Catherine died the 6th of March 1865, after having been married to Jens Clausen a little over ten years.  They had four children, three daughters and a son whose name was Henry Clausen and he died when he was ten years old.
      I, Jacob, Jacob's son was married to Ingeborg Petersen the 3rd of March 1860.  Her father's name was Peter Nielsen and his Mother's was Anne Nielsen.  I do not know their birth-dates, but the daughter Ingeborg was born in Kongested, Denmark the 13th of March 1837.   She had five brothers, one older and four younger, the eldest, Niels, then Soren, and Hans, Jens, and Jorgen.


      We had ten children, seven sons and three daughters.  Jacob Peter was born the 2nd of August 1861.  Ann Sophie born the 18th of July 1863, but died the year after in the month of September.  Anne Sophie Catherine, born the 10th of July 1865.  She lived to be twenty-three years old and had been married to a man name of Eugene Richardson and had two children, a daughter and a son.


     Joseph George Jacobsen was born July the 19th 1867, died Feb. 4th 1897 and left a widow and a son.  Ferdnand Subel Jacobsen born 22nd of Nov. 1869 and lived only six hours. Vilhelm Isak Marinus Jacobsen born Aug. 7th 1871.  Elias Gustave Michael born (info missing) ..... Daniel Valdemar Sath Jacobsen born 11th of Mar 1876.    Dagmar Elise Nicholine Jacobsen born April 17th 1878. Elias Jacobsen born the 22nd of February 1881.   With the exception of Anne Sophie Catherine, all were born in Copenhagen, Denmark.  Anne Sophie Catherine was born in Kongested.
